This Week in Beach Volleyball: Rest for Some, AVP Seattle for Most

For some, this is a rest week, a final preparation before the biggest event of the beach volleyball season: World Championships in Hamburg, Germany. For others – well, most – this is AVP Seattle week, one of the most unique and aesthetic stops on tour.

Seattle will be the final 16-team draw until Hawai’i, which will have its own unique take on qualification, using Gold Series points as a premium. More on that down the road. For now: This will be the last, absolutely brutal qualifier until September, even with a few of the top teams sitting out to prepare for World Championships and take a breather from the non-stop traveling grind.

With zero — zero! — events on the international calendar this week, there is but one tournament to watch:

June 20-23: AVP Seattle, Lake Sammamish

  • One of the best venues on Tour, held at the telegenic Lake Sammamish, will host almost every top team in the country, save for a few.
  • TV: Amazon Prime
