This Week in Beach Volleyball: Nearly 2,000 Teams Head to Seaside, Oregon


The major events, for the next few weeks are on hold. “Major” meaning major at the top level — the big AVPs and, literally, the Major FIVBs. But there is one major event still happening in the United States this weekend, in Seaside, Oregon, site of perhaps the most popular non-AVP domestic tournament of the year.

More than 1,600 teams will descend upon Seaside this weekend, in divisions that range from fun co-ed fours to open-level men that will feature some of the top talent in the country. It’s a tournament for, quite literally, any type of player in the game.

But there are still other tournaments happening. Here’s what else to watch for this week in beach volleyball:

FIVB Beach Volleyball

August 6-11: Liechtenstein One-Star

  • Who’s competing:
    • Men: Mike Boag, Timmy Brewster

August 7-11: Brazil One-Star

  • Who’s competing:
    • Women: Audrey and Nicole Nourse
