CBVA Points Integration

p1440 Partners with the CBVA for Points Integration

CBVA Points

Kerri Walsh Jennings’ event series, p1440 is partnering with the California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA), the largest amateur beach volleyball association in the United States, to implement a points integration system for p1440 events. The p1440 points integration will allow athletes to accumulate points in all sanctioned Open Division tournaments throughout the 2018 season—giving them the opportunity to garner points to play in p1440’s Qualifiers and Main Draws. The p1440 points integration will kick off at the CBVA’s Women’s and Men’s Open Division at Hermosa Beach Pier on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27. p1440 will be doubling the points given at the Hermosa Beach Pier Open Division tournament for CBVA’s first premier event of the season.

The partnership will allow Open Division players to accumulate points towards p1440’s Qualifiers and Main Draws.

“We are very excited to announce the p1440 points integration for CBVA tournaments and see young stars start chipping away at their dreams. The importance of having a strong farm system for a professional sport is crucial for the growth of the up and coming athlete. I know this first-hand as someone who started playing CBVA AAA tournaments well before I ever qualified for a professional event—the CBVA helps athletes get to the professional level,” said Casey Jennings, co-founder of p1440. “Having athletes be able to earn p1440 points through the CBVA allows them to compete with their peers and learn the fundamentals of the game, all while still moving up the ladder within the points system. Earning points at CBVA events will give players the chance to get some experience under their belts before qualifying for p1440 events. We can’t wait to see the new generation’s skills!”

p1440 will use CBVA athletes’ best four finishes out of the last six tournaments played to seed teams into p1440 Qualifiers and Main Draws. First place CBVA Open Division winners will receive the point equivalent of placing 17th at p1440 events and second place finishers will receive the point equivalent of placing 25th at p1440 events. All athletes will receive points for participating in sanctioned CBVA Open Division events to go towards qualifying in p1440 events.

The inaugural p1440 event series will launch in September 2018 with eight events in the 2018 – 2019 season. The event series will showcase the best in women’s and men’s beach volleyball from around the globe. In 2018, the series will travel to four cities in the U.S.—San Jose, Las Vegas, San Diego and Huntington Beach.

In summer of 2018, the p1440 event series will also be supported 24/7 by a powerful digital online community that will provide constant inspiration and an abundance of resources to support living an optimal life. Together, the event series and digital experience will revolutionize and revitalize the sport of beach volleyball, provide a credible platform for aspiring and professional athletes, grow the volleyball audience and become the leading resource for individuals to live playfully.
