Committed to offering athletes more opportunities to play, p1440 will host two tournaments in Huntington Beach, the p1440 Beach Volleyball Top Guns Invitational and the p1440 Beach Volleyball Young Guns Invitational. The schedule update honors athlete’s off-season time, which is important on their journey to Tokyo 2020.

The two tournaments will occur simultaneously at Huntington State Beach. The p1440 Beach Volleyball Top Guns Invitational will feature 16 of the best players of each gender from around the world. Setting future professional beach volleyball athletes up for success is one of p1440’s founding pillars which is why the p1440 Beach Volleyball Young Guns Invitational welcomes all talented athletes to participate in a 24-team main draw and double elimination tournament, giving young athletes the opportunity to compete among the top players in the sport. More information regarding registration and qualifying will be released in the upcoming weeks.

“When we created p1440, one of the things we were deeply committed to was creating an event series that honored and respected the athletes and by adjusting our 2018 end of the year calendar, we are doing just that. A proper off-season is crucial for our bodies, minds and spirits—taking the time to rest, recover and re-set is essential and our team at p1440 knows this. December and January are vital to these efforts and it’s especially important for those athletes with an eye toward qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games. A strategic off-season is prep for the new season. We have such a collaborative, mindful, community-centric mentality at p1440, which guided us to truly listen to what the athletes had to say; they wanted an off-season and we want them to know we heard and we care,” said Walsh Jennings, co-founder of p1440. “I was truly looking forward to playing in San Diego and we definitely will be playing there in 2019. It’s been amazing working with San Diego County and I so appreciate that they are just as excited to have us as we are to be there!”
In addition to the two tournaments, p1440 will transform the scene at Huntington State Beach into a live unique, immersive experience for all ages. The three-day event will also feature family-friendly happenings including a “Kid’s Court” area with activities created with the little ones in mind; a health & wellness village with expert trainers leading high-intensity interval workouts, breath workshops and bootcamps at the Älsa Energy Movement Shop—a portable fitness studio, daily yoga and mediation sessions, healthy cooking demos and more; immersive art experiences; local DJs and more.

“I am honored to be able to bring the p1440 event series to Huntington Beach’s fantastic beach volleyball community and the place where my beach career was born,” said Walsh Jennings. “We want people to come to our event to not only watch the best of the best in beach volleyball compete for the title, but also to learn from and engage with our p1440 experts and partners, immerse themselves in our health & wellness village, enjoy music and leave inspired and empowered to live the p1440 lifestyle well beyond our events. I hope people come ready to move, to cheer and to have a ton of fun.”
Admission to the three-day event at Huntington State Beach is complimentary, with VIP ticket options available. Single day VIP tickets are $100 and a three-day package is $200.
