The top two teams of each gender will compete at the p1440 San Jose Invitational, joining the p1440 movement to elevate the sport of beach volleyball around the world
Kerri Walsh Jennings’ event series and digital experience, p1440, and the California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) announce the two top team finishers from the Women’s and Men’s Gene Selznick Memorial Open (Sept. 8-9) qualified to compete at the p1440 San Jose Invitational on Sept. 28 – 30 at Avaya Stadium grounds. The top two women’s teams from the tournament are Jessica Sykora and Delaney Knudsen, and Brittany Tiegs and Mackenzie Ponnet. The top two men’s teams are David Vander Meer and Lev Priima, and Mark Burik and David Lee.
“Qualifying to compete among the world’s top tier professional beach volleyball players is a huge accomplishment and I cannot wait to witness these athletes’ talents in San Jose,” said Walsh Jennings, co-founder of p1440. “One of p1440’s goals is to grow, develop and support the future stars of our sport and we’re able to do that not only through our developmental program but also through p1440’s satellite qualifiers—giving these athletes more opportunities to play at the highest level. These eight athletes have worked hard and have earned their spots at the p1440 San Jose Invitational.”
In addition to the professional beach volleyball tournament, p1440 San Jose will also encompass live music from Foster the People, Grouplove, Daya, Marian Hill and Magic Giant; a development village encompassing high-intensity interval workouts and volleyball training with p1440 experts; food trucks; a beer and wine garden; a health & wellness village featuring daily yoga sessions, live cooking demos, tips from health experts, samples from wellness vendors and more.
