Film Room Friday: Walsh Jennings, Sweat, Knock Out Aussies in Qinzhou Semifinals
They have become three-set specialists, Kerri Walsh Jennings and Brooke Sweat. Not that they particularly want to go to three sets, mind you, but in the past seven matches that have gone the distance, Walsh Jennings and Sweat are 7-0.
That record was extended in Qinzhou, China, last weekend for the final three-star of a long and winding world tour season. It was extended against one of the top teams on the planet, Australians Mariafe Artacho and Taliqua Clancy, bronze medalists at the Hamburg World Championships.
After dropping the first set, 17-21, Walsh Jennings and Sweat won the next two, 21-18, 15-12, to move onto the final, where they’d claim silver, their seventh medal of the season.
With one tournament remaining, Walsh Jennings and Sweat can add one more podium finish in a year full of them. For now, enjoy this excellent match with a phenomenal Australian team.
