Film Room Friday: Flashback to Tri Bourne, Trevor Crabb Winning Gold at Qinzhou 3-Star
This week, an armada of Americans will descend upon Qinzhou, China, a city of half a million on the border of China and Vietnam, for a Three-Star FIVB and one of the finals stops of a lengthy 2019 beach season.
On the men’s end, Ryan Doherty and Miles Evans, who are automatically in the main draw, and Travis Mewhirter and Mike Boag, who are in Wednesday’s qualifier, are making the trip. The women, meanwhile, is a stacked roster, featuring Kerri Walsh Jennings and Brooke Sweat, Kelly Claes and Sarah Sponcil, Kelley Larsen and Emily Stockman, and Sara Hughes and Summer Ross.
The upcoming event made us want to throw it back to last year’s Qinzhou tournament, where Tri Bourne and Trevor Crabb, playing in their first international event as partners, won gold, beating Russia in the finals. Ideally, one of the six teams competing for gold will return home with the same hardware in hand, before it’s off to the Israel One-Star and the Chetumal Four-Star.
Enjoy as the Olympic race continues in the far east.
