Film Room Friday: Bourne, Crabb Pick up First Career Wins Over Spain
Throughout the course of Tri Bourne’s wildly successful partnership with John Hyden, which began in 2014 and ended with Bourne being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2016, he had accumulated a number of marquee wins.
The two won out of the qualifier in Berlin in 2014. They won half of the AVPs they competed in 2015, in Ohio and Huntington Beach. They very nearly qualified for the 2016 Olympics, though when they didn’t, they wound up competing in World Champs just a few weeks later, in Toronto, claiming bronze.
But there was one team who had always given Bourne fits: Spain’s Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira. Same for Bourne’s partner, Trevor Crabb.
That alas came to a halt in p1440 Las Vegas, where Bourne and Crabb were playing in their second event as a team. In their second round of pool play, the Americans topped Spain, 21-17, 21-19, providing the new partnership its first marquee win.
