Film Room Friday: 2007 Long Beach Open Final: Dalhausser-Rogers vs. Gibb-Rosenthal
It seems that our readers here at p1440 are fans of a throwback match. Judging from the responses we’ve gotten on our weekly Film Room Friday feature, we’re providing another from the time capsule, this match coming in 2007, in the finals of the Long Beach Open.
Here, Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers, a year before they’d win a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics, battle with Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal, five years before they’d finish ranked No. 1 in the world.
What’s astounding is that two of the players — Dalhausser and Gibb — are currently vying for spots in the upcoming Tokyo Games, and a third, Rosenthal, is still competing at an AVP-championship level. Only Rogers, who was recently inducted into the CBVA Hall of Fame, has stopped playing, and he is currently leading Cal Poly to new record-highs every year.
Enjoy the throwback, have a fantastic Friday, and a wonderful weekend!
