p1440 set out to create what didn’t exist – a world-class training program for rising players who’ve exhausted their collegiate eligibility and aspire to be professional beach volleyball players. Twice per year, p1440 holds open tryouts and selects approximately 70 players each season to join this one-of-a-kind program. Players who earn a spot receive the best of the best in training, coaching, physical therapy, nutrition and recovery – all at no cost to the athlete.

We are investing in the future of our sport. Our mission is to be a global entry port for athletes to ignite their careers, make connections, elevate their skills and positively impact the trajectory of their careers.

The p1440 Developmental Program has two seasons per year—fall/winter and summer.

Each season is made up of men’s and women’s doubles beach volleyball teams. The teams participate in training groups led by internationally renowned coaches in Hermosa Beach and Huntington Beach, and strength and conditioning training at one of the best facilities in the country, OC Fast Twitch. Athletes also have the chance to compete against each other in competitive mock-qualifier format tournaments throughout the season. p1440 provides financial incentives, giving athletes the opportunity to win performance bonuses based off their individual performances. The top ranked male and female athletes are rewarded at the end of each season.

“Our Dev Program is unlike anything else in our sport and provides everything aspiring athletes need to develop their skills—training with the same trainers I’ve worked with for decades and the supportive environment of a community of like-minded people who are all dedicated to growing the game. I could only have dreamed about something like this when I was a young athlete.”
– Kerri Walsh Jennings
